World Telecommunication Day is widely celebrated to raise the global awareness about the recent changes in technology and communication sector. Earlier the day was commemorating the founding of International Telecommunication Union in 17th May 1865 which was initiated by Plenipotentiary Conference in Malaga Torremolinos in 1973.

Time to Celebrate:

The World Telecommunication day is held on May, 17th every year.


The purpose of the day is to create awareness about the use and possibilities of the various communications gazettes and the latest Internet and information technologies. The purpose is to ensure the maximum reach of technologies for the upliftment of the society around the world. It also signifies the anniversary of first International Telegraph convention and the creation of International Telecommunication Union.
