Introduction:

The cultural city of Kerala is most famous for the spectacular Thrissurpooram festival which is held every year in the district. The most famous attraction of the festival is the elegant elephant procession in which several elephants from different temples of the state takes participation. The main center of the festival is in Vadakkumnathan temple in the Thrissur district where thousands of people congregate to become the witness of grand colorful procession.

Description:

The festival attracts large number of tourists as it is the period when the culture of the state can be view in its own prominent show.The festival make the people of state able to get more closer to their traditions and ties the cultural threads.The myths behind the word pooram literally means a group or a meeting, it was believed that every year the dynastic gods and goddesses of neighbouring province met together for a day of celebration. Therefore Thrissur Pooram is observed as the biggest one among all the pooram festivals of the state.Apart from splendid elephant procession, other attractions of festival include, display of colorful fireworks in the evening, parasol exchanges, an umbrella showing competition, display of pyro-techniques, and drum concerts.
