As per Hindu mythology, this day is ruled by God Vishnu, traditionally celebrated as the birth day of the Hindu sage Parashurama, the sixth avatar (incarnation) of the god Vishnu. According to Hindu mythology, on this day the Treta Yuga began and the river Ganges, the most holy and sacred river of India, descended to the earth from the heaven.
according to the myhtology,Parashurama is the sixth avatar of Vishnu and is the son of a Brahmin father Jamadagni and a Kshatriya mother Renuka.He was extraordinary in warfare methods and skills, which was received by Lord Shiva as an axe after undertaking a terrible penance.The coasta area of Kerala State along with the Konkan region,also called Parashurama Kshetra through his fighting skills thus saved these lands.Parashurama is believed to be the first warrior saint.
