National Youth Day is a particular day for promoting and celebrating the youth power of India. The day was also the birth date of Swami Vivekanand, who was known for his great philosophy and inspirational ideas which are still admired and followed significantly by the Indian Youth.

The National Youth Day is held on 12th January every year.
The Govt of India declared the birthday of Swami Vivekanand as a National Youth Day in 1984 and from 12th January 1985 onwards, it was celebrated all around the country.
The day is observed in all over the country at various schools, colleges, with processions, speeches, recitations, music, youth conventions, seminars, Yogasanas, presentations, competitions in essay-writing, recitations and sports like activities.
The day is associated with Swami Vivekanand because his lectures and writings were derived their inspiration from Indian spiritual tradition and carry the broad outlook of his Master Sri Ramakrishna, who himself are a great source of inspiration till yet and have motivated numerous youth organizations, study circles and service projects involving the youth.
