Introduction:

Manarcad  Perunnal is the specific festival of Christian community in the state Kerala. The festival is continues for eight days and observed as the strict days of fast and prayers. The festival is held at the St. Mary’s Church at Manarcad. It is like a anuual feast for the community.

Time to Celebrate:

The Manarcad Perunnal is generally held during the first week of September year ie:,1st to 8th Sep.

Description:

Manarcad Perunnal is also known as the Ettunombu Perunnal, in which one has to be prays and fasts for consecutive eight days. This is the feast of Immaculate Conception which is celebrated by the Christian community of Kerala. The offerings include special items like Muthukkuda, which are the form of parasols. People keep fasting from early in the day till the night on each festival day. On the last day of festival, a huge procession are taken out, participating thousands of devotees from all over the country, holding golden crosses in their hands. Also followers carry the colorful umbrellas during the celebrations and at the time of processions.
The state administration too involved in the celebration by making necessary arrangements for conducting the fiesta successful.
