State Jharkhand of India, is known for its various cultural fairs especially as a cattle trade centre. These fairs are mostly organised by state government to promote and enhance the possibilities of local talents. The Kunda Mela is the biggest cattle fair of the state which is held every year in the district of Pratappur. During the fair, this small place is become the hostage of many cattle traders from all around the country.

The Kunda Mela is held during the Shivratri of Hindi month Phalgun (Feb-March).
The objective of organising the Kunda fair is to promote the various breeds and establishment of trade relations with new and active cattle traders. Pratappur is the district and Chatra is the exact place where the fair organised. The fair is observed as the biggest and popular cattle fair of the Jharkhand district due to the participation of large number of traders. Participants, buyers and sellers of the cattle make the event happened where they come along with their cattle in colorful and best dress up attires.
