Kalidas Festival is famous extravaganza of music and dance which is annually held in the month of November. The festival is the tribute towards the famous poet Kalidas and commemorating the poet by various forms of arts. The festival is two days event which is conducted by Tourism Department of Maharashtra (MTDC) in collaboration with Municipal Corporation and Collectorate, Nagpur.

The venue of Kalidas Festival is the Ramtek town which is famous for its association with Lord Rama and the place is also the venue where great poet Kalidas initiated his poetry with the famous formation Meghdoot. The poetry beautifully describes the serenity and features of the surroundings of nature. Other Kalidas’s formations like Kumaarasambhava and Ritusamhaara were also written in the same place and that is the main reason of choosing the venue for two days Kalidas Festival. During the festival days famous poets, dramatist from different regions, artistes etc congregate on the venue to how their best talents. The involvement of tourism department of Maharashtra Government itself show the objective of the festival to promote the Vidarbha region in all around the country and outside the country also.
