The Ka Pomblang Nongkrem festival is five day long celebration which held at the cultural centre of Smit, nearby to Shillong. It is one of the most important festivals of Meghalaya.
The locals of the region take participation in vivid dance form of the region which is popularly known as ‘Ka Pemlang Nongrem Dance’.

During the Nongkrem Dance festival the whole atmosphere of the magnificent event is become enchanting due to the sizzling autumn season. The main objective of the festival aims for the welfare of the local people and good agricultural harvest. People seek well wishes and blessings from their local deity in order to make them pleased by various offerings and rituals through the festival. The main attraction of the event is the ceremony which is called Pemblang ceremony which is conducted by the supreme priest along with Syiem of Khyrim. The ceremony observed the sacrifice of goats which marked the honor towards their Lie of Shillong. The occasion is also observed as an opportunity to pay homage and remember the forefathers of the reigning tribal community.
