The Goa Carnival is a three day festival which held every year in the month of February. The vivacious carnival is celebrated in all around the Goa state. It is one of the eagerly awaited events of the year. The Carnival of Goa is one of the most colorful and popular fiesta throughout the region. It is the time to indulge in lots of fun, frolic , feasting, in true words an extravaganza of entertainment. Although it is primarily a Christian festival, it is celebrated by people of all religions and culture with the similar enthusiasm.

The Carnival of Goa was first introduced by Portuguese, who ruled over the state for more than 500 years. People from different parts of the country come to Goa Carnival to participate and enjoy in this extravaganza. Various cultural activities takes place during the carnival days, the festival starts with grand procession of various grand colorful floats which is adequately rewarded as best floats on the last day. Floats, colossal parades, bands, balls and dances together symbolize the Goa Carnival. Groups of masked revelers dressed in dazzling costumes sing and dance to the tunes of the renowned musicians.
The preparations for the celebration started many days prior before the inauguration though the festival is lasts only for three days. In these three days of Goa Carnival, cultural functions, competitions and other celebrations takes place and selected for the best performance.
