Introduction:

Gayatri Jayanti is observed as a birth date of Gayatri Mata who is believed as Ved Mata (mother of all Vedas).  The day is commemorate the Goddess Gayatri’s appearance in the form of knowledge to remove the darkness. The belief that Goddess Gayatri appeared in the form of knowledge on the 11th day of the Shukla Paksha of Jyeshta month which marks the celebration of Gayatri Jayanti. This knowledge was shared to the world by Maharishi Vishwamitra.

Time to Celebrate:

Gayatri Jayanti is celebrated on 11th day of shukla Jyeshta every year ( June).

Description:

Gayatri is worshipped as the Goddess of all knowledge and vedas. Her appearance only symbolizes the form of all knowledge with the removal of darkness. The knowledge appears with the influence of Gayatri was first shared by Maharishi Vishwamitra on the same day. Goddess Gayatri is considered as a portrayal of entire universe  in the feminine form. The Goddess is observed a combination of Past, Present and Future as well as the three realms of existence. It is also observed that she is the only form of Lakshmi, Parvati and Saraswati, who is a mother of all Gods. She is the second consort of Lord Brahma.
Special prayers and pujas are dedicated to Gayatri Mata. Gayatri mantra is chanted during the puja.

AUM BHOOR BHUWAH SWAHA,
TAT SAVITUR VARENYAM
BHARGO DEVASAYA DHEEMAHI
DHIYO YO NAHA PRACHODAYAT.
