The Camel festival of Bikaner is an important and famous fair that held in the month of January by the Department of Tourism, Art and Culture under the Government of Rajasthan. The festival is mainly organised to enhance the tourism possibilities in the region. The Bikaner Camel Festival is popular among those tourists from all over the world who comes to the state and wants to know more about the culture and traditions of the land of Rajasthan.

The Camel Festival of Bikaner is a two day’s carnival that hosts a multi facet activities with folk dances, folk music ,decoration of Camels in traditional manner. The Camel parade starts from the Junagarh Fort in which each and every camel is ready to give complex to the other one with their immense and unique decoration. The camel owners themselves decorate the camels with colourful bridles and saddles and tie anklets from head to their feet. Before the event they started the grooming of them and on the judging day the competitions begin to judge the best breed camel, best decorated camel and best fur cut design of camel.
The idea behind the camel festival is to attract maximum to maximum tourists to city and let them able to aware about the ancient times of Bikaner. In those days camel was the important key player in terms of modes of transport who were used to exchange goods, information etc from one place to another. Hence camels are called as the “Ship of the deserts”.
During the evenings of the festival, finest dance performances from the local artists can be viewed.The dazzling fireworks at the ending night of the festival brings extra glitters. Sweets specially made by the camel milk adds as tasteful ingredients.
